About UN-Habitat

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable town and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. This post is in the UN Habitat Regional Office for Asia and Pacific (ROAP) at Kabul duty station. UN-Habitat Afghanistan The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, has been working within Afghanistan since 1992 with funding support of USAID, Japanese and Australian Governments, EU, CIDA, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Kingdom of the Netherlands and several other bilateral donors and multilateral donors. During this period, its programme has expanded to include a wide range of human settlements initiatives, from humanitarian emergency support to small-scale neighborhood level improvement schemes to municipal scale governance reforms.

Job Summary

Under the guidance and supervision of the ICT Associate the ICT Assistant provides ICT support to UN-Habitat Main office and other project Offices ensuring high quality and accuracy of work and his/her responsibilities are as follow:

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Local Area Network as per ICT policies.
  • Installing and configuring standard Microsoft server software and tasks related to LAN/WLAN.
  • Experienced with network testing, cabling, troubleshooting etc.,
  • Repairing of ICT equipment (hardware and software) (Desktop, Notebooks, Printers, scanners etc.)
  • Service and maintenance of ICT equipment.
  • Installing and upgrading various PC application software packages as per UN-Habitat ICT policies.
  • Performing problem analyses and problem determination for all hardware and software systems.
  • Good knowledge of Access project to create some Database for UN-Habitat Offices.
  • Implementing appropriate recovery procedures as required.
  • Ensure that all computers are protected against Viruses and all updates are applied and installed regularly with appropriate follow up.
  • Daily follow up the ICT system in the office to ensure error free ICT environment.
  • Maintaining proper inventory of ICT related properties in the stock.
  • Seek advice of ICT Associate for any ICT related issues to ensure appropriate ICT equipment technical specification are in place and ICT policies are fully considered.
  • Ensure appropriate use of UN-Habitat ICT policies are applied within the office.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
